At Mickey’s Carting, we want your waste removal service to be as seamless as possible. While we handle the heavy lifting, a few simple steps on your end can go a long way in ensuring a smooth and successful pickup.
Here’s your official Trash Day Checklist to help keep things running like clockwork:
✅ 1. Put Your Bins Out the Night Before
Pickups can happen early in the morning depending on your route. Setting your bins out the night before ensures you don’t miss the collection window. Place them curbside and clearly visible.
🚧 2. Check for Obstructions
Are your bins blocked by:
Parked cars?
Overgrown bushes?
Snow or debris?
Make sure there’s a clear path from the road to your bins. This helps our team work efficiently and safely—and avoids a missed stop.
🛑 3. Don’t Overfill Your Bins
Lids should be closed and contents should not be sticking out. Overfilled bins pose a hazard and may not be collected. If you have excess waste, contact us ahead of time—we may be able to arrange an extra pickup or advise you on container options.
♻️ 4. Sort Recycling Correctly
Contaminated recycling can ruin an entire load. Check local guidelines and make sure recyclables are:
Empty and clean
Not mixed with trash
Placed in the proper bin
Avoid putting plastic bags, greasy pizza boxes, or Styrofoam in your recycling unless approved.
📦 5. Flatten and Bundle Large Items
Breaking down cardboard boxes or bundling loose branches makes collection faster and reduces the risk of items blowing away. It also ensures more space in the truck—and less clutter on your curb.
Extra Tip: Know Your Pickup Schedule
Whether you’re on weekly, bi-weekly, or seasonal service, knowing your schedule (and holiday adjustments) helps prevent overflows. Set a recurring calendar reminder or download our free digital calendar [here].
Wrap-Up
With just a few minutes of prep, you can help our crews serve you better. Mickey’s Carting is proud to deliver efficient, friendly, and dependable waste collection—and you’re a big part of making that happen.
